Nintendo's latest offering in the Animal Crossing series is a lighthearted romp designed to appeal to the obsessive nature in all of us. With a picturesque setting and a cast of colorful characters to interact with, Nintendo has delivered a pleasant and entertaining experience that will deliver hours of fun.
The game's simplistic appearance belies the depth that can be found in its game play. Whether it's fishing, collecting, shopping, or decorating that draws you back day after day, you will find yourself spending your time improving the museum's exhibits or the town as a whole. Everyday there will be something new and exciting to discover, and each day that comes and goes in the real world is mirrored in Animal Crossing. Nintendo has cleverly designed the game to work in real time. Hour by hour and day by day your game follows the same flow of time that you yourself are experiencing. Items change in the stores, new visitors come and go, new bugs and fish appear, and Holidays come and go. If you are a fan of in game events, you will not want to miss hunting eggs on Easter or chasing down Jack on Halloween, among other things, for that last piece of holiday furniture.
Animal Crossing does allow for multiplayer over the WFC and you are encouraged to both visit your friend's towns and invite them to visit yours. When you are visiting with your friends, it is a perfect chance to use WiiSpeak for easier communication.
For deaf gamers, many cues will be missed in ambient sounds that can be heard while fishing or bug hunting. These sounds, although nice, are not necessary for game play and I had no issues with collecting anything playing with the game sound off. Those with mobility issues will appreciate the games controls. You are given the choice of using the regular Wii controller for point and click movement or the nun chucks for joystick movement.
Animal Crossing is a good buy for disabled gamers and will provide hours of interesting game play alone or with all yours friends.
