Ioo's Web Game of the Week: Triple Play
This week, while going through some of the games we have featured before, we noticed a surprising lack of sports games. Therefore, this week's Ioo Web game of the week will actually be a triple play.
Bowmaster
Bowmaster is an amazingly well done and graphically impressive Web game. You assume the role of a medieval archer, who is trying to prove his worth in front of the grand audience. Do you have what it takes?
Take hold of your bow and aim at the various targets each level has to offer. Simply aim the mouse, click and hold to draw the bow. Then release to fire. You will face moving targets, animals, objects, and the occasional knight in shining armor.
This is not an extremely accessible game. There are no important sound cues that our deaf gamers will be missing. Additionally, this game is fully controlled by the mouse, so some motor-impaired individuals will have no problems. However, those without steady fine motor control may have a difficult time.
Finally, one of the targets is a black target area with a red center. Those who are colorblind will have difficulty seeing the target area.
Baseball
It is the bottom of the ninth, no bases loaded, and you are down by two. Can you save the day and come back from 0-2 deficit? Here is your chance to try a rather interesting batting game.
Baseball is a rather simplistic web game involving clicking the mouse at a baseball thrown to you in a targeted area. The game was made simple by adding a crosshairs for the baseball. As the baseball is thrown at you a symbol of the baseball is shown on the screen with some red crosshairs that show you exactly where to click.
Additionally, a tutorial is shown to you every time you go to play the game. This alleviates any doubt about the instructions.
As far as accessible gaming goes, this game is pretty good. This is not a one-switch game. However, everything is done with the mouse and is not on a timed progression, so this will be very friendly for the motion impaired.
Deaf gamers will again have no problems because everything is handled in text. Colorblind players will not have any problems either. Overall, this is a rather accessible web game.
Monkey Kick Off
Monkey Kick Off is a cute little game designed by someone who has no artistic ability whatsoever. I am pretty sure anyone who reads this could draw just about as well, no matter what your disability, as this game is drawn.
The idea behind this little strangely addictive game is to kick a coconut from the coconut trees back to the monkey's village. This is accomplished by clicking the mouse at the appropriate time. The monkey will continue to bounce the coconut up and down in the air until you decide to click.
Finally, a one-switch game on the Ioo Web game of the week. Everything is controlled by clicking the mouse or keyboard or switch. There is very little text, no audio cues, no colorblind issues, and most importantly, it can all be controlled by one switch!
We hope you enjoy this week's triple play web games of the week!
