About the AbleGamers Foundation

Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. It is our goal to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability, can use gaming as a tool to have enriched social experiences with friends, family, and the world at large.

AbleGamers Web Game of the Week: Polar PWND 2

{sidebar id=1}Я ненавижу пингвинов! Not really, I love penguins but in order to play this week’s web game of the week, you at least need to have the ability to see then as the enemy. Polar PWND 2 is puzzle game that plays, in a very tongue-in-cheek way, the cold war stereotypes of days gone by. The Russians are polar bears, the Germans are penguins, and the object of the game is to slide your polar bear in an ushanka (Russian fur hat) across the ice and knock the penguins down.  The graphics are fun, and the game play addicting.

Polar PWND 2 is a mouse only game, which makes it an excellent game for gamers with motor impairments. The creator of the game spent more time developing a very good set of tutorial levels to show you the ropes than AbleGamers is used to seeing; a plus for gamers with cognitive disabilities and those who may be helping them get started.

Another disabled gamer friendly feature to this game is that it has no timer; you can take as much time as you want setting up your solution to the puzzle. Once you have it all where you want it, you click start and see what happens. If you fail to reach the goal, you just click the reset button and everything is back where you put it.

polar_pwnd_2_splashColorblind gamers should not have an issue at all, everything is clearly marked with color and symbols, so you will not be left out of the “know”.

As web games go, Polar PWND 2 is accessible, fun, and worth a go... иди, иди сейчас (go go now)
