Puzzle Dimension Review

Puzzle Dimensions features no accessibility options other than the ability to turn on or off aside from that, the only option that might come in handy is the ability to change the language the game’s text appears in. That’s not to say the game is inaccessible in the least.

With the only controls that ever need to be used simultaneously being the left stick/D-pad and “X”-button, there isn’t much need for button remapping. The right stick can be used to rotate the camera around the ball, and the triangle button can be used to take a closer/further look at the puzzle. All of this is well and good, but it’s made even better by the controls being as simple as forward, backward, right and left – no fancy diagonals to be found here. Players will need to execute more than a few well-timed jumps throughout the game, but even still, it’s hard to argue a lack of mobile accessibility from a game that can be played using just one hand.
Sound within Puzzle Dimensions doesn’t matter in the least

High-definition (1080p), 60 Hz, 3D optional – congratulations on making a pretty game, but it’s up to the player to un-pixelate a waiting-to-be-pretty puzzle while solving said puzzle with very little incentive to do so. Congratulatory handshake? Jokes aside, with the exception of a sometimes unnecessarily low-contrast menu and some squares on some puzzles presenting the possibility of being seen as dirty tricks, the game looks fine and should pose very few unintentional problems for the visually impaired. The game is actually so easily seen that this visually impaired gamer can actually push the screen back to distances reserved only for games not of its genre - congratulations are in order for that achievement.
Unless the player is visiting the options menu to turn on the games 3D, there is no reason to visit, and without a reason to visit, a low-contrast highlighted menu item is nothing to really worry about.

As for the game’s “dirty tricks”; as mentioned previously, the player is responsible for clearing up a pixelated puzzle, and at times, mistaking one block for another can cost the player the chance to beat that puzzle as some squares are so similarly colored that they are identifiable only as “this or “that” and are forced to gamble in order to possibly solve the puzzle.

Though puzzles are somewhat-timed (bonus points for completing them quicker), it doesn’t really matter how fast or slow puzzles are completed because without a leaderboard or scoreboard, there really is no incentive to complete them faster than you’re able to, and with no incentives, there’s not much replay value to the game.
Still on the negative side of the coin, without collecting so many flowers over the course of the game, there’s not really any way that the entire game can be seen. That means, despite failing at any given number of puzzles a certain amount of times, the possibility presents itself that players might not ever get the entire game for the price they paid for it.

At a glance

Hearing:
~Sound is unimportant to gameplay.
Recommended score of 10 out of 10

Vision:
~Options menu items don’t provide a satisfactory level of contrast. (-0.25 point)
~Blocks are pixelated until the player un-pixelates them. Some color issues can be expected from this dirty trick. (-0.50 point)
Recommended score of 9.25 out of 10

Mobility:
~Simple control scheme which makes use of left stick/D-pad for navigation and the “X”-button to jump.
~One-handed players can enjoy this game.
~Though the game is timed, completing puzzles in a timely fashion is not necessary.
~Despite failing numerous times, players might not get to experience the entire game. (-1 point)
Recommended score of 9 out of 10
