You are usually looking at a blurry kaleidoscope of colored blobs with muffled sound recorded with a camera view of someone's TV.
If you actually wanted to record a decent video, you would have to buy a card to put into your computer, and then hook the computer to you TV. It is similar years ago when you could route your console through your VCR to record gameplay. Lame right!
I am pleased to announce that developers are catching on. Over the last year, Sony has released five games that include this feature.
Sorry, Xbox fan boys, I have not found any 360 games that have this feature. I think this feature is extremely useful not only for gamers but for developers. Gamers can show off their skills, make tutorials to help others, or make interesting mash-ups of clips.
Developers get free publicity, I know when I want to watch a gameplay video, and I'd rather watch a video someone made one at their home. Then a gameplay video that has been played by a company stooge and edited until it is perfect.
However, there is a down side to this feature. The fact that people are going to use this feature to just make the most stupid videos or screw up a five hour gaming session just to post something on YouTube. I swear if I see another video of 25 ways you can die in GTA VI I might hang myself. At least, I would if my controller had a cord.
Instead of rehashing the same tired old crap repeatedly. Here is an idea making something original?
Please try not to squander this technology on close ups of bouncing digital breasts or a homoerotic encounter in game between you and your friend, it has been done before. Yes, this will require some activity of your brain but you can do it, I believe in you.
