About the AbleGamers Foundation

Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. It is our goal to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability, can use gaming as a tool to have enriched social experiences with friends, family, and the world at large.

Forget the Web Game of the Week - AbleGamers goes to GDC

gdc_09.jpgFrom March 23 through March 27, AbleGamers will be schmoozing with some of the video game industry's finest in San Francisco for the Game Developer's Conference 2009.

GDC is expected to bring in more than 18,000 attendees and will feature more than 400 lectures, panels, tutorials and discussions on game development topics given by industry experts. Mark Barlet, editor-in-chief of AbleGamers, Michelle Hinn, chair of the IGDA Game Accessibility SIG, and I will be there to give you the play-by-play on all things GDC.

This year's conference marks AbleGamers' second appearance at GDC. The focus at last year's conference was to create awareness and promote game accessibility as a feasible development option. This year we plan on taking things to the next level by furthering discussion with developers and game companies on what can be done to incorporate accessibility in gaming.

Check in with AbleGamers regularly March 23 through March 27 for blog and Twitter updates, interviews, recaps, videos and more.
