AbleGamers Headquarters Will Be Open for 24 Hours from July 5 until July 6 to Help All Gamers with Disabilities
AbleGamers Charity is opening its doors to the laboratory of specialized assistive technologies to any gamer with disabilities in the Washington DC area. We’re inviting any and all disabled gamers to stop by our headquarters and try out the numerous options of assistive technology available to help get people back into gaming no matter their disability.
“We’re going to be holding the event for 24 hours straight,” said Craig Kaufman, Principal Events Coordinator of the AbleGamers Charity. “We want to open the doors and let anyone who wants to investigate the possibility of using assistive technology to play video games to come down to the headquarters and see what’s available.”
“We’ll be doing demonstrations, playing games and helping people fill out applications for grants right on the spot,” continued Kaufman.
A 24-hour streaming event will also be happening at the same time allowing gamers with disabilities who want to jump in and play with the team to do so immediately.
In addition, AbleGamers will be unveiling “The Wall” – an entire wall of shelves filled with unique items from the developers themselves, a project headed by AbleGamers Secretary of Gaming, Troy Hewitt.
“Game devs collect so many one-of-a-kind items that sit on shelves, desks, or worse, live in boxes in the attic,” said Hewitt. “We thought a better way to utilize these items would be to put them on a huge shelf behind the streamers on the AbleGamers channel. Once the shelf gets full, old items come off, new ones go on. The old ones then go up for auction and the proceeds support gamers with disabilities.”
AbleGamers 24-hour open house begins at 12 PM July 5 and last until 12 PM July 6 EDT at the headquarters of the charity just outside Washington DC. Gamers with disabilities are invited to stop by at any time during the 24 hours to see the numerous assistive technology devices housed at the AbleGamers headquarters laboratory.
Come on down to see some cool technology, one-of-a-kind items and play with the AbleGamers team. No appointment necessary. Visit AbleGamers Headquarters and laboratory at 179 E Burr Ave, Kearneysville WV
