Peripherals - What do you use to play

Okay, so it is not a secret that my disability is in my leg (ol' Lefty) and not in my hands, but I find that my play style is such that I for the most part only use my right hand as much as I can.

I play PC games for the most part, and I use something called the Ergodex DX1. Love this thing!!! Only issue is that they STILL do not have Vista drivers

i don't actually have any special equipment i use to play my games. i have my mouse and my keyboard....but only because i'm saving for various things to buy in that respect, like a gaming mouse and stuff.

I play with my right hand and play the PS3. I use the regular Sony PlayStation 3 controller and do pretty good with it. I grew up with video games so I should be a good one handed player.

For PC I personaly use atm the logitech G13 it lets you convert the joystick into a mouse which is nice but not as responsive as a real mouse. Before that it was the razer copperhead great but not enough buttons, so I started googling around and found the warmouse which is nice if your right handed (joystick is on the left hand side) so I realy want razer to make a left handed version of the naga which it looks like they will if us lefties keep pestering them enough.

I looked at the warmouse online. It looks like it was designed for right hand otherwise I would be interested. My Sandio is missing a hat so it's is unconfortable to use.

Let's see, here's what I use.

For PC it's Warmouse Meta, 18 programmable buttons, plus an thumb stick on the side. Plus Game Commander 3 voice activation software.
For Xbox a custom righty controller from Evil Controllers.
For PS3 Access Controller designed by Ben Heck, but looking at modding a regular PS3 controller to be like the Xbox controller I have.

These days, I play really only the Xbox 360, but I can play those other platforms. Man, I'm such a video gamer... I hope I never grow up!

I've been using a Razer Lachesis, it has a good amount of buttons and works for both left or right hand users, so far it's the best mouse for me due to having access to two side buttons and two small buttons behind the scroll wheel. My real hang up is the fact that most gaming kit is aimed at right handed users, it kinda makes me feel double disabled. If I had lost my left arm I would have a lot more options for the type of games I play. If I could use the Razer Naga all my MMORPG problems would be gone, but of course it's for right handers..... If anyone knows of something similar or a mouse with a lot of buttons for a left handed player I'd be very happy. I'm currently waiting on delivery of Frag pedals and an Omni mouse from gamingmouse.com Can't comment on how good these are yet but if the company service is anything to go by they should be really good.

The programmable (5) button Microsoft MX5 mouse works great for me and will only run you $25 at amazon. I would say I can play D2, Torchlight, Titan Quest, COH, Total war games and anything else requiring those pesky shift click or ctrl click maneuvers almost as well as anyone else since procuring one. Its a bit bulky but works great for that price point.

Hey folks, a few questions. How usable is the sandio 3d mouse with only the left hand? Looks like it may not work. Also, how easy to use is the ben heck new access controller? Looks very difficult to learn. Has anyone tried the no limit pad looks like it may be my best bet. I worry because the guy demonstrating the shooter games either wasn't very good, or the controller was impractical. Has a lefty tried any of these options that can comment?
On a side note, the ipod touch or iphone can be a godsend for 1 handed gamers so long as you choose the game carefully.

(Hi. I'm here representing my brother who is paralyzed on his right side due to a head injury. In fact my avatar is actually his Mii character. Hopefully he'll soon be able to join AbleGamers as he just got his first internet account Monday.)

Does anyone else enjoy gaming on the Wii? There are a handful of excellent titles that can be played with only the remote. While everyone's tastes are different, the following are A+ titles with tons of replay value:
Boom Blox
Wii Sports (A couple of the games in the title do require the numchuck, but the majority do not.)
Wii Sports Resort (A couple of the games in the title do require the numchuck, but the majority do not.)
Carnival Games
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Mario Kart Wii (This one uses only the remote but is somewhat difficult to use with only one hand due to the awkward button placement. This can prevent those playing with one hand from easily using the game's power-ups but that hardly ruins the game.)
Also: I'm looking for Animal Crossing: City Folk players who are interested in playing over the internet. It's by brother's favorite game and he just got internet access for the first time EVER!

Sorry if this sounds stupid -- I really don't know my options -- but what about a joystick similar to the XCM offerings only with the buttons on the left? What I'd really like is to perform actions left handed but with a based joystick so I could stabilize any right handed movement. "Regular" lefty controllers don't do it for me. I sort of need my directional movements to go with my shoulder instead of relying on my being able to consistently use my right thumb/fingers while also holding up a pad. I keep seeing left-handed mouse adapter/switches, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Is there a really obvious place I'm just not looking?

Hello guys, I'm recently injured and want to play again, but I don't know anything about one-handed controllers. If you could say what you use and other controllers in the market that would be of great help. Also if you could tell me about what to look for in a one-handed controller. Thanks.

On the PC I use a Sandio O2 3d mouse. It's ace for most games including fps. More recently I've been using the Ben Heck access controller on the PS3. Never thought I'd be able to play console games again until I got that little beauty. It's amazing. Been playing Killzone 2 all weekend. Doesn't have any rumble or accelerometer support though which is frustrating because quite a few PS3 games, including Killzone 2, require the tilt support from the native 6 axis controller for certain parts. Why on earth they do that I don't know. It's really frustrating they don't at least provide an alternative control scheme that doesn't require it.

That padfynter controller looks cool. I've just tried to pre-order but the sites broken. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it.

I have just started using two new peripherals, the Sandio O2 mouse and a two button pedal from Pedalpax. I play any game that is "mousable" such as Crysis, Farcry, Guild Wars, Men of War, other FPSs etc. I would love to play a football game such as Fifa 09 but there are just too many combinations of keys to make this possible with one hand. I use the numerical keypad in conjunction with the pedal for racing games (GTR evolution)

Say something that looks a little cool. I do not think that is 100% one hand ready, but it is a form factor that is more favorable.

I use Fragpedal Elite USB Gaming Footpedal for WSDA and
Sandio 3D mouse for another 12 buttons that can be programmed.
This works on PC however cannot play counsel games. Except WII when numbchuck is not needed.

I'm still slacking on hardware. That sucks the Ergodex DX1 doesn't have drivers on Vista. That thing looks neat. Trying get over being sick still but after that I'm going get into some of the hardware and get over the fear of reteaching myself to whatever I'm going use.
