{sidebar id=1}There are certain key elements to every game; fun, levels, and of course blobbles. Fortunately for you, this week's AbleGamers Web game of the week Blobble Wars contains plenty of, well, blobbles.
I know what you're thinking: Is he just trying to say the word blobble as many blobbling times as possible? Yes I am!
Blobble Wars is somewhat of a modified tower defense. Except instead of killing monsters you will be shooting other towers that look like cannons to take control over them. You begin each of the 20 levels with your starting tower.
When the level begins you simply click on said tower and drag to point it at one of the towers you don't currently control. Each canon will begin spewing blobbles as soon as you assume control. You gain control over additional towers by hitting said tower with enough blobbles.
However, the computer also controls its own set of blobble towers and will be aiming to phase you out of existence. The game quickly turns into a type of sci-fi tug-of-war as you compete with the computer to dominate the map with your color.
Each of the 20 levels is different with various sizes of canons that shoot faster or slower depending on your level of control. You must keep your towers shaded in green at all times. As the towers are attacked they will begin to fade to a lighter green color until they become color of your opponent.
Although Blobble Wars is a very short game, you can easily get lost for a few minutes in this strategic shooter.
For the motion impaired, you can use the mouse but not the keyboard. In addition, the levels are not actually timed, however, some relatively quick movement is required to win some advanced levels.
For the deaf gamer, all of the audio is completely unnecessary. The instructions are written out in text above the playing field in an easy-to-read font.
For the colorblind, this game may be difficult for you. The primary colors of this game are green and red. Therefore, during the transition from the ai to you and vice versa, it may be difficult to tell between shades of red and green. Depending on your colorblindness, this may not be the game for you.
Overall, a very interesting coffee break strategy shooting tower defense game. Unfortunately, the creator to some very bad game design in no options to change the default colors. Although there are many different colors seen during the game, there is no way to willingly choose which color you are represented by.
However, there are four different game settings, which is a good feature for the cognitively impaired. Colorblind gamers will have to determine for themselves whether they can see the changes between light red and green enough to play this title.
And for those counting, the blobble word count is 12.
