About the AbleGamers Foundation

Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before?

cryptic1.jpgLet’s get into the time machine and go all the way back to September of 2004, Perpetual Entertainment announced that it had started the epic project of turning the works of the great Gene Roddenberry into a full MMO, ushering the dream of all fans, to participate in the world of Star Trek.

Fast Forward, but do not come all the way back to the present, stop just before now. Back in January of this year (2008 (in case someone comes and reads the site in 100 years)) the developers over at Perpetual Entertainment found they were “No longer developing the property” and the developers were all laid off, the assets were transferred to an undisclosed development studio in the San Francisco Bay area.

The drama continues, in March of this year the official website for the game was updated with a “Coming Soon” , those that were in mourning for the games loss were set all a quiver.

Well it looks like more is known about the games fate, Cryptic Studios, a San Francisco Bay development studio has places an odd, and cryptic countdown on their main website as well as the site of their game Champions Online . Fans Perpetual Entertainment incarnation of the game say the art that is in the background of the counter looks like some of the original artwork, but this is speculation. Could this be the Star Trek game we have been waiting for?

Stay tuned!

(oh by the way, you are welcome to come back to the present, I did not mean to leave you in the first quarter of 2008... )
