A Window to the World

Shepherd University invited the AbleGamers Foundation to come on campus and do one of our Accessibility Arcades for the students and local disabled community. The event was a roaring success with hundreds of children and adults coming out to see the technology and in some cases experience gaming the first time. Read More

MMO's For All, A Chat with GamersFirst

gamefirst {sidebar id=1}On my 2^nd day of GDC, I had the pleasure of meeting with the amazing people at Gamersfirst. They welcomed me with open arms and we had a great discussion about accessibility and how they have a quite large user community of people with disability that love their games. But they needed to know more about the technologies that better suit our community. Of course I wanted to know more about the company and the variety of games that they offer.

Gamersfirst increased its Free2Play base of players and has now surpassing 28 million players on a global scale. As a result of this amazing success they showcased the following premier MMO’s; Knight Online (Fantasy MMOG), Sword of the New World “Echoes of an Empire, Volume 2” (MMORPG), War Rock Siege War (MMOFPS) and Victory (MMO Racer).

Knight Online was one of my favorite games during the demo and our discussion because it has one of the most hardcore PvP environments in an MMORPG. After choosing a nation, the player takes part in the epic war between the noble kingdom of El Morad and the monstrous Karus, fighting for glory in the endless stream of battles that characterizes the struggle. They can form clans, strive to achieve the ranking of Knight, embark on quests to master their combat abilities, and even become King of their respective nation.

Another great fantasy MMORPG is Sword of the New World because it is an MMORPG inspired by Europe’s exploration of the Americas. Delve into a visually stunning world of fantastic Baroque architecture and conspiracy and as a player you have the possibility of becoming a key representative of one of the political factions that constantly vie for power. Explore and adventure in a world of political intrigue, conflict and danger solo or by joining forces with other Pioneering Families to battle enemies.

War Rock was another great game not only because it is celebrating its 3rd year anniversary but because of it’s recently released Siege War, enabling progressive campaign play and complimenting War Rock’s existing tactical fast-paced style. War Rock bodes the deadliest weapons, the most lethal vehicles, killer game play modes in the air, on the land and over the sea and more recently introduced destructible environments.

Victory was a personal favorite of mine because it allows you to play in a 60 style racing environment with endless amounts of car customization that can offer hours of fun and help you live out your dreams! This game has plenty of levels for all skill levels and will offers hours of entertainment for all gamers especially race enthusiasts.

Overall, this is great for MMO’s because they are not only free to play but they have revolutionary game play that is perfect for Ablegamers because you can full reprogram the controls to your liking and use some text to speech applications to play! Also Gamersfirst is very aware of the issues we as a gamers with disabilities face and willing to work with our community to make the user experience the best it could be!
