RDS Industries Xbox 360 System Backpack Review

360backpack

When most people think of “portable gaming” their minds automatically jump to devices like the PSP, Nintendo 3DS and of course the iPad 2 but whatever happened to the good old days of loading up your game console and bringing it over to a buddies place? I mean sure, a lot of us still do this, but once you unhook all the cables, wrap them up neatly and grab your console, you’re still going to need something that not only carries everything, but also gives you piece of mind in knowing that nothing is going to get damaged from Point A to Point B. I am happy to say that the folks over at RDS Industries have come up with a solution to this problem with their Xbox 360 System Backpack.

DSC_2321It’s lightweight, durable design makes it easy for anyone to slip in their console and go. On the bags exterior you’ll find two convenient mesh side pockets, perfect for holding the AV and Ethernet cables, or of course, your favourite energy drinks for those late night gaming bingers (energy drinks not included). The clip that attaches to the outside flap ensures that all the contents inside are secure and are less likely to move around as you travel.

With its plush padded interior, you can put your mind at ease knowing that your console will always be protected. The main pocket holds your XBOX 360 Entertainment System and even has a section specifically for the power supply. The middle pockets have enough room to store up to four controllers and any additional cables or games you might want to bring with you.

Now, I know you’re thinking “All these specs are great, but how does it all stack up when you’re actually using it?” Well, when travelling with the backpack, I performed two separate tests. Once travelling with my original Xbox 360 and the second time travelling with my Xbox 360 slim, the backpack passed both tests with flying colors and I was able to fit the consoles and all of my equipment inside without incident. What really makes this backpack a winner for me is that the straps are fully adjustable and padded, so I am able to make it fit snugly against the back of my wheelchair.  For any students out there, this backpack also makes a great book bag and has plenty of space for any of your other day-to-day equipment. The one drawback is that the backpack currently sells for $94.99 online and at most electronic stores, which can be pretty steep for most consumers, but I think that for what you get with the price, the other gaming backpacks currently on the market pale in comparison. So, if you’re in the market for a new system backpack or you simply want a backpack that will last the test of time, then the Xbox 360 System Backpack by RDS Industries may be just what you’ve been looking for.
