No More Clamshell Packages

clamshell.jpgI have known non-disabled people become disabled trying to get a set of headphones or a XBOX controller out of the clamshell package. You know the packages I am talking about, the ones that are sealed all the way around the edge, needing a chainsaw, blowtorch or team of people to pry your new toy free. Well the good folks at SONY have heard the cries, and I am sure been forced to pay a few hospital bills, and said they will be eliminating the clamshell packaging from SONY's products. This follows a move by Amazon.com to get rid of them.

Now, the real reason they are going the way of the condor is because they are very expensive to make, a cost that out-weighs the anti-theft deterrent. Also, there has been a lot of pressure from the environmentalist types, who express the harmful nature of the clamshell, an item that is meant for nothing more than display.

It is reported that Microsoft and Best Buy are going to be following the trend soon. No word from Venus on if she is going to abandon her clamshell.

This is great news for everyone, but for the AbleGamer this is a gift from the gods.
