Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. It is our goal to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability, can use gaming as a tool to have enriched social experiences with friends, family, and the world at large.

Inspired by the hit TV show and upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension is an action-packed adventure game that will delight children, teens and parents alike. Creators of the game worked closely with the team from movie to ensure that the humor, style and sense of fun, along with the storyline are carried over into the game. This is the first time that the game is being brought to the Wii and to the Playstation 3, with the game being ‘Move’ compatible.
Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension will be released for Wii, Playstation 3 and Nintendo DS. When playing on the Playstation 3 and Wii systems, players have the choice to work two-person cooperatively as they battle through 25 levels over three different lands. My personal favourite from what I’ve seen, is the 1928-style cartoon world. Players can choose to play as one of eight characters including Phineas, Ferb and Agent P as they battle against the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Players will uncover new gadgets and upgrades and new unlockable characters. The gadgets are whimsical and fun including items such as a “Carbonator” which fires orange soda pop at enemies. The Playstation 3 will also have four episodes on the disk, so it’ll be a hybrid disk.
The game offers a unique art style on the Wii and Playstation 3, being that it is cell shaded which makes you feel that you are playing in a cartoon world as opposed to 3D graphics.
When playing on the Nintendo DS platform, players can choose to play as one of the three main characters to play through five worlds and 30 different levels. Players will also earn upgrades and gadgets as they try to save Alternate Danvill. Players not only jump, race and manoeuvre through the worlds, but also must solve puzzles to reach their goal.
Many of the original voices found in the TV show and the movie will be heard in this hilarious game. The game is expected to be released in August 2011.
There is not a lot of movement required to play the game and it has a very intuitive interface. It can be played with traditional controls as well as the Wii controller and the Playstation 3 Move. One of the demonstrators indicated that the controls are very similar to a Zelda type of game, so that if you are able to play Zelda, you shouldn’t have any issues playing Phineas and Ferb. In terms of color-specific, there are puzzles that use a color scheme that may interfere with a color-blind gamer being able to play, however most of the game is action-adventure. There are both visual overlays and voice overlays to help with game play. Ultimately, this is a three-button controlled game and Disney certainly strives to include all players in their games.
