About the AbleGamers Foundation

Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. It is our goal to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability, can use gaming as a tool to have enriched social experiences with friends, family, and the world at large.

Never Ending Dragon Age Sequels

da2Completely accessible video games are an extremely rare commodity nowadays. When AbleGamers gave our most accessible game of the year award to Dragon Age: Origins, we thought “this is great but they're probably only going to make one.” Fortunately, we were wrong, Bioware has no intention of giving up the franchise anytime soon.

When asked by UGO about the franchise’s sequel possibilities, BioWare’s CEO answered, “seventeen.”  To which his creative officer chimed in “Seventeen... Sixty-six? Infinite! Infinite games for the Dragon Age universe!”

Of course they were joking.

But still, Dragon Age is in no danger of running out of content yet. With the recent release of Awakening and the promise of bimonthly downloadable content, Dragon Age will continue to bring accessibility to an extremely popular mainstream title for years to come

Of course, there are already hints of Dragon Age 2.  Mysterious cards were sent out with the expansion pack to Origins with a Dragon age logo and the ominous date of 02.01.2011 - could it be the release date of the next innovation to the surprise smash hit?

Sources say yes, in February EA tentatively announced a new DA title TBA release for in Q4 of 2011.

If you haven't checked out the extremely accessible title, we suggest you read all about it in our accessible gaming reviews section.  No matter whether your disability is hearing, motor, or cognitive impairment this title has something for you.  Unfortunately, the small text remains despite numerous promises of easy fixes… nevertheless, there are third-party workarounds for this issue.

As one of the most accessible titles AbleGamers has ever seen, we certainly welcome the news of more games with a built-in pause feature to help cognitively impaired gamers. As one of the most under catered-to disabilities within the industry, it's nice to see a company incorporate a feature that can be used for a rare disability and for those with no disability at all, just the same.

The one I tried was about a month ago. So it is quite possible the new version fixes it. The 1.03 patch caused more trouble than it was worth so I removed it. (Adv tactics, pickpocketing, criticals and system load.)

Hi Render,

I'm not exactly allowed to post links to modifications. However, if I was going to I would inquire if you tried http://dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=73 - that's if I was going to ask, which I won't, because I'm not alone. But if I did, that's what I'd post.

Sadly as far as I know the UI mod does not work with the rather bad 1.03 patch required for Awakening.

EA is proving to be poor at fixing issues. Fonts both in ME2 and DA:O. Sadly there are also several general bugs. (I wont go into their cash cow attitude towards gamers.)
