Since 2004, the AbleGamers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, has served more than 56 million members of the disabled community by advocating greater access in video games. Today, AbleGamers is a leader in the development of equipment, programs and services to those living with disabilities, hardships, and quality-of-life issues that are a result of chronic illness or trauma. It is our goal to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability, can use gaming as a tool to have enriched social experiences with friends, family, and the world at large.

{sidebar id=1}The World of Warcraft Remote Auction House is a service being offered through iTunes for the World of Warcraft lover to monitor their auctions while away from home or too lazy to get off the couch. With mobile devices being all the rage nowadays, Blizzard continues to add as many additional perks that “do not affect gameplay” for a small amount of charges as possible.
Although the number of transactions is limited to 200 per day, the remote auction house allows iPad/iPhone/Android users to check their auction houses for free or spend $3 to buy, bid, and sell without logging into the game. But it doesn't end there.
Soon you will be able to chat with guild mates as if you were logged in through the application. Blizzard continues to promote a community atmosphere but not so much because they are goodhearted people (although they can be, they've given to AbleGamers in the past). If Blizzard can hook us further and further into the world of social gaming, it is far less likely that we will be able to justify quitting the game.
At the end of the day, it is the friendships you forge in an MMO that keep you paying the monthly subscription fee. After all, if you were going to play a single player game, you would buy a console and just be done with it. Instead, we pay our $15 a month and deal with the stress of briefing players all to spend time with our online friends.
World of Warcraft is also not the first to bring players into the fold by offering applications for mobile devices. Guild Wars also offers a similar feature allowing players to chat with their buddies via the app.
“More than just chatting, offline players will be able to help out their online friends, locating them on a map and helping to guide them towards quest destinations, cities, and towns,” says Kotaku about the Guild Wars application.
The World of Warcraft Remote Auction House is available now on iTunes.
