  • Breckan created a new topic ' Need setup for visually impaired/tremors' in the forum.
My apologies if this is not in the correct forum. I am not disabled, but my sister has a very aggressive form of multiple sclerosis which has resulted in several types of disability. She used to love to play World of Warcraft, fighting games, and others, but her ability to do so has been severely hampered, and I don't believe she knows of what technology is available which might allow her to continue to enjoy gaming. I would love to get some suggestions, and help her to perhaps regain more quality of life.

First, the lesions have affected her sight. She is legally blind, but is able to see very close up, or with an enhanced/enlarged screen. I believe she uses a screen enlarger on her computer, and they are looking into using the large tv screen as a computer monitor as well. Any additional suggestions would be fantastic.

Second, in addition to being physically weaker and in a wheelchair, she has very bad tremors/shakes. The shakes/tremors vary in severity, but, even on a good day, she is unable to eat anything besides "finger food" by herself. This, I believe, may be the most challenging disability for her when attempting to game. Does anyone know of perhaps a stabilizing mouse/gaming pad which holds a person's arm/wrist in place? When we hold her in place, for example, to brush teeth, etc., it is not uncomfortable for her. Also perhaps some type of stabilizing head support?

She is extremely intelligent (was a biochemist prior to the disease), and, perhaps just as difficult as the physical disability, is the lack of mental stimulation she used to enjoy.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you. :)
