Hi,

Just become an owner of a Wii and so far have only been able to play bowling, tennis and baseball on it.

My problem is that I only have te use of my right arm so I can't play a lot of games

I've been told that I could play House of the Dead: Overkill, which can be played with just the Wii-mote.

Are there anyother games for the Wii that can be play with one hand?

Thanks,
Dave

I am almost sure that the game tells you on the box if the num-chuck is required. That would be what I would look for. If it has the need for the num-chuck you are going to have a challenge. We can start making sure we call that out in our Wii reviews going forward.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.

I've noticed that a lot, if not all, of the online games sellers here in the UK don't actually state what contolls are required to play the Wii games they are selling or at least if not found one yey that does, so I will have to go into the shops and have a look at the back of the games cases.

You could play guitar hero/rock band type games, if you can work the "strum bar" with another body part. Barring that, you can buy a switch adapted guitar, or adapt one yourself. Then you can play the colored "fret" buttons with your hand, and strum with a foot pedal or any other sort of switch.

R.J. Cooper sells adapted guitars for $99 here: rjcooper.com/guitar-hero/index.html

OneSwitch has a DIY guide for adapting a Rock Band guitar here: oneswitch.org.uk/4/DIY/rockband-guitar.htm

I adapted a Guitar Hero World Tour guitar a while back, and just haven't gotten the time to finish making the DIY guide on Instructables yet, but I can provide photos and answer questions if you go that route.

Or you can get on the drums and play Def Leppard songs... =P

I am very interested in compiling a list of one handed Wii titles as well since my wife can only use her right arm. You can add Animal Crossing: City Folk to the list. It says that a chuck is required on the box but it isn't at all. She's playing it right now with just the Wiimote. I know some of the party type games like Wii Party can be played with just the Wiimote. I call for a sticky so we can begin making a list. You can't always go by the box, unfortunately, Animal Crossing is a good example.

You can play Call of Duty World at War and Resident Evil with unmodified controllers. You do something that I have to see discussed on these forums - use your feet. If you securely mount the Nunchuck to something you can use your big toe to move the joystick and the other big toe to push the buttons. Not optimal but it works. I would like to do something similar for Xbox, put the movement joystick and the prone/crouch buttons on the floor for my feet, then have a more ergonomic controller for the one hand that would be comfortable to hold.

I don't have one arm, I have 3 limbs, so why should I need to cram all of the buttons on one controller?

I know it has been a while since you asked this, but I will throw in that I was able to play the Dragon Quest game just fine one handed.
