Hey there first thread so i thought i'd say little bout myself as well, Im shane 23 and all my life i've played video games and sport and drums with one hand. No one has ever treated me differently or let me win at anything i had to do it all by myself.
i recently just got middle of the way online on cod mw2 lvl 35 and pretty much need one more trophy for the platinum. I have a general in killzone 2, complete resistance 2 all these shooters are completed on veteran and highest ranks online. I have finished guitar hero world tour on guitar and drums( btw i am actually a drummer in a working band so that doesn't really count) on expert. Also i have an 80 in wow don't play it anymore though thank god. i may be a little wrong here but to have a physical disability for gaming i think other then the obvious being blind, but definitely not having a second hand is a massive disadvantage but as you all would know you adapt to things and where you are weak ends up not being any trouble at all. If i can play guitar hero anyone can. Also just wondering if any other one-handed gamers are out there and what games they play , hopefully i can give them a go online in the future. Does anyone know of competitive gaming for people with disablities? |

Nearly one-handed here.
What's left is attached in the photo. On the PS3 with the handle west43rd. I'm not much for the shooters, but currently enjoying Burnout Paradise (still), Fat Princess and BlazBlue in multi-player games. I'm more casual, but I did get the platinum in BP. Bob |

I'm not one handed, but I do know that there are other one handed players out there who are super awesome. We also have a group on here for one-handed gamers that you may be interested in joining.
Also, I'm getting ready to do an interview with a man you may find interesting. His name is Sebastian "One Handed Terror" Jennings. His left hand didn't develop, and he's a super awesome Street Fighter player. That should be up either this week or next week (It's hard to just with Thanksgiving around the corner) but you should totally check it out when it is. |

I believe BawNeY does well in competitions (as well as N0M4D of course). Here is a video of him reviewing the Access Controller and playing some, and I think it mentions him competing:
In the related videos, there are a bunch more of one-handed gaming and such. |

Dose a 1.39 K/D in CoDWaW and a 1.41 on CoDMW2 count as being good? Ive been playin one handed for 2 and a half years now on 360 and am starting to get good on ps3(FINALLY!!!) without any mods. played mw2 yesterday and went 22-6 on estate HTDM, I wouldnt even consider that as a noteable game if it was on 360. I think the only reason Im any good is because Im kinda a soar looser. at any rate I think being one handed is an advantage, at least in person. People tend to look at me and think how sad, That changes after I go 50-10 plaing 3 v 1 on WaW. Me being the 1

Hey guys. Maybe you can give me some tips. I lost my right arm a few years ago and I've been using the Ben Heck access controller to play. It's awesome - but the latest PS3 firmware has killed it! Grrrrrrrrr Sony.
Seems to me I'd be better off learning to play with a standard controller. But I suck! How do you guys hold it? Any tips? |

I have been looking for one-handed controller options - including having one custom built (anyone know of a shop/person that can do this?). There are number of controllers that move everything onto the one side. This seems like it would create a complexity issue for quick response. What I haven't seen is anyone taking advantage of the other limbs one might have functional. In my case the legs are fine. It seems like it would make sense to move the mobility controls to the feet and leave pointing, looking, firing actions for the one hand. I do this now with my WII by creating a "holder" for the nunchuck that allows me to use my toes to move, which is awesome, but awkward because of he shape. I am not particularly "handy" (no pun intended) so modifying an existing, or building a new controller is beyond my abilities.

Hey! I had no idea about this site till xbox support on twitter linked me to it. As far as I know I'm the best one armed gamer out there. I've been on TV twice playing Halo. I've looked a few times for others to challenge, but had no luck. My scientist Modded my controller so I have 2 R Triggers, and I use the L Stick with my mouth. I've been playing this way since 2003 when I woke up in a hospital. I'm extremely happy to find others. Please add me on xbox live. "One Armed Ninja" I'm on Reach like every night.

Hi Ya,
I'm a lefty as well, actually I don't have a left arm but you know what I mean. I'm pretty big into shooters and am currently trying to get somewhere on Black Ops on my PS3. I found the biggest problem at first was the inability to aim. Then I found the "Charlie" button config that lets me toggle aim on and off with the R2 button. Heaps better! Unfortunately it leaves me standing somewhat still when shooting though so that can be an issue. Nevertheless I love it and if my wife would only stop crying PS3-Widow I'm sure I'd be higher than just level 25. Once I get my Ben Heck Controller going again I might be able to do better. We'll see. (I do have problems with the sticks getting stuck but I'll see how it goes.) Ciao all PS My PSN ID is DWT350. (Don't ask! |

Toggle aim is Charlie Mode now? Wasn't it NOM4D before?

I don't know. All I know is Charlie sets up R2 to Toggle Aim. (As opposed to L1 for aim) Much easier for me as I only have a right hand.

Thought I'd also mention that Black Ops in 3D rocks too!

I have been searching for years for a one handed PS3 controller I am not actually one handed but combos are hard for me. I've tried the one they show in that video but the buttons stuck with in 2 hours of play. It was hard to return it too.

@Tapey: Hmmm ... I think NOM4D mode actually used the left or right thumbstick to toggle aim on and off.
@GamingSentinel: It's my understanding that customized PS3 controllers may or may not work right now due to various firmware changes and updates. In other words, even finding one that will work with the console can be a challenge right now. |

I am a lefty only as of 07. I thought my gaming days were over but one day i was so sad watching my nephew play star wars battlefront which was my favorite game before that i grabbed a controller, jammed it between my legs ,set my palms on the sticks and started trying. It wasnt long before i had it pretty good and now i am just as good if not better than my friends on the ps3. The xbox controllers are not as easy to do for me.

To those kicking ass and taking names on shooters one handed. Thats friggin awesome. To those struggling, keep your head up. Maybe we can find a controller mod that will work for you. Either way I play a lot of call of duty. I'm not that great, I mostly play to have fun and blow people up. Plus something about burning people witht he flamethrower just makes me feel happy inside.
Anyways, My GT on XBOX is TATTERR. Unfortunately because of life, work, etc. My playing time is spotty, at best. However, I got room on my FL and id be more than happy to have ya if you want to have some good laughs. |

Very pleased to hear it! Where there's a will there's a way that's for sure. I've pretty much given up on specialised controllers for various reasons and am currently playing around with silicon covers for the normal controller so I can hold it better between my knees, etc.
I tried one of those Black Ops wireless controllers and I love the size and rubber sides but 2.4ghz in my house is obviously a bit crowded so it just won't work. I even cracked it open to see if I could swap the guts out of a standard controller into that housing but no can do. My mate has recently bought a Move so I got the Logic3 Gun to see if that is any easier. I'll give it a crack and, if it works out OK, I'll buy the move kit myself. (Mind you it will be a bit difficult not to feel like a complete toolbox with a gun but we'll see how it goes. I'm currently really enjoying Killzone 3 with my son-in-law and a few mates so drop me a line if you get into it. My PS3 ID is dwt350. |

Welcome aboard, Shmod! I know sghedlund has experience with Evil Controllers if you have any interest in learning more about controllers for the Xbox. Otherwise, jump in with us on Xbox Game Night! We've been doing Forza 3 lately, and try to stick to games around a $30 price point since we like great games that are also inexpensive
