Ive been in game development off and on for last 20 years, while my day time job was engineering. Since my accident, I have become a partial paraplegic. I am currently now retired but I have done contracted work for various military simulations for the Marine Corps, and Air Force. Ive a team of 3 fellow developers that I work with and we have worked on various commercial gaming projects.
I am currently looking at creating a fully accessible game tailored made for the disabled community. A massively multiplayer role playing game that requires either no physical movement, or partial movement. The idea is to offer some incentive to keep what moving parts some of us still have and avoid atrophy of the muscles. Being an engineer, Ive developed sensors that strap onto your wrists, your knees, and there is a product that allows you to wear a baseball cap with a sensor on your monitor. In the game world, in order to walk, you would be required to move your legs up and down. In order to run, you must move them quicker. To move your arms for example to fight, or pick up items, you simple move your arms. The sensor on the baseball cap is a reflective strip which the sensor on the monitor watches. You can turn your head to look around, you can lean to your left and right to look around trees. This technology is already available and posted, in my other thread. The straps are custom made and the sensors also work with a standard camera on your desktop. I fully believe in a operating in a non profit environment and will speak to vendors about donating the equipment needed. The MMO itself will be subscription free, and again I will work with vendors who will help via donations and advertising. What I need are ideas, would you like simply the subscription free MMO alone, or would some consider utilizing the sensors units to help with home therapy. I will be contacting Sheryl Flynn here who is a physical therapist and ask if she would join a work group and offer some of her ideas and experiences. I am sure there are more people here who would love to participate so the work group will be open to anyone who would like to join. Having made my share of commercial products, and worked many contractual jobs, I would really like a more rewarding project, and hopefully this will be a permanent participation on my part. Creating and making fully accessible games. Ive also many big industry developers whom I will contact about creating a standard option for setting games up so they are accessible for the disabled. Hopefully the goal being, simply checking a box will offer a more accessible game, and also adding a logo on the box stating it has an accessibility feature. So if you have ideas, even if you think its silly (Which no ideas are), please feel free to offer your suggestions. I worked on very complex projects so working on a MMO will be a relief as I wont have to work as hard on difficult artificial intelligence routines. If we have some artists here, feel free to offer to help. Ive a strong background in 3d modeling, Animations, Programming, and Photoshop. Ive written the owners of the .org with my desire to become part of their advisory board or what they feel is a fitting possible position. I'll be jotting down a lot of notes, everything for ideas on type of MMO people would like, to physical limitations we can code into the program to make it easier on all users. The control scheme for the MMO will be very extensive, with plenty of options for control changes and instrumentation implementation. Very best, Jim |

Provide some option for adjusting sensitivity for those of us who tremble or have stability issues.
BTW: thank you for your efforts |
