Hey AbleGamers.

You may have noticed that the background on the site has changed. Well AbleGamers.com has a sponsor for the month of May. The good folks at Mytheon are paying for the spot.

So you may ask, why is AbleGamers taking sponsors? Well there are 2 main reason. Reason one, we are a gaming site, and I am so happy that we are now seen as a community that is worth marketing to. This is a very big step for our community. Secondly is the server that we have costs us around $150 a month, and AGF has to find ways to make sure that we watch how we spend money. Now unlike most gaming sites, we do not have a bizzilion ads on the site... just the one at the bottom. I think the background is a good compromise.

You are welcome to voice your thoughts here. We want your opinion and care what you think, please welcome our

Hey Everybody!

Hope you are enjoying this amazing new background... The people at Mytheon are great people and I truly enjoyed getting to know them at this year's GDC. They truly care about the disabled population and want to make our gaming experience as amazing as possible. All Feedback that has been given to them has been greatly appreciated and they are constantly working to improve the game from accessibility standard.

So with that being said they are the BEST company to be our first sponsor!

So please join me in welcoming them!

I think it's fantastic that they're interested in the community, and - as far as I'm concerned - any sponsorship or ads that support the community are good things, especially if the interaction results in more accessible games.

Unless it's Evony.

'Cause, y'know, there's no princess to save.

Thank you, TGI and Mytheon! I think it's completely appropriate for them to sponsor the site, as they are actively pursuing accessibility in the game. It's also a lot of fun to play.

As long as it doesn't get in the way of being critical and semi neutral it's a good thing.
If I start seeing a great big EA or activision logo I'm going to worry. :-P

Gah.

I SO want to make a snarky comment about "World Of RockBand," but everything I could think of just sounded offensive.

But seriously, companies like that know that bad reviews are part of the territory - in the case of AbleGamers, the reviews focus on usability and accessibility, so the reviews here focus on a different aspect of the game and, regardless of how good a game may or may not be, are frequently very critical due to poor accessibility.

Furthermore, I think there are enough honest folks here to keep things level, even in the face of sponsorship.

(Although in fairness, I don't think EA and Activision would partner for ANYTHING at this point ... maybe not even Child's Play )
